Double Ikat

Ikat, an age-old technique of resist dyeing is an intricate and painstakingly long process of motif formation is seen upon weaving, wherein the yarns are dyed in specific intervals keeping a desired pattern in mind. Ikat means “to bind” and is found in two type y other categories among man: Single Ikat, Double Ikat. Single Ikat, Where in the pattern of the motifs is dyed on a unidirectional set of threads- warp or weft Ikat.

A notable feature of ikat textiles is a "blurriness" to the design. This blurriness is an essential symbol of the extreme intricacy the weaver has to face at the time of lining up the dyed yarns so that the pattern comes out perfectly in the finished cloth.
